A Deal With The Devil

BETA SATAN SIGNED TO CRUNCHY FROG
Only a few weeks after signing 18th Dye we went ahead and signed yet another noisy rock band. Name of the band: Beta Satan. Yes kids: we more or less made a deal with the devil. Some may think that all this noise rock is new to the Frog, but actually this is more or less a way of returning to the roots of the label. Back in the mid nineties our roster consisted of nothing but alt rock noise inferno: THAU, Death Tothe, Naked, Learning from Las Vegas, Düreforsög etc. Yes, you are too young and pure of heart to know, but inside the glamour, sparkle and multimillion dollar deals of the crisp frog you have come to know, lives an ugly toad with a black heart beating in its chest, two fuzz pedals strapped permanently to its feet and a constant tinnitus ringing in both ears. In ALL frequencies, man!

Here are some pix from the very cosy and not particularly evil signing session at CF HQ.

A little B.S. about BS (from their own press release).

You may have been verbally abused by one of the guys in Beta Satan. Maybe it happened to one of your friends. No matter who or what was on the receiving end, the drunken rant being spit into your ear surely included anecdotes and seemingly endless appraisals of this new institution of rock, Beta Satan.

As many before you, you ask: “What is it, really?” and “Who do they think they are?” and “What do they do, besides being drunk at shows, sporting a swollen pride, going on and on about how brilliant they are?! I mean… Come on!” Well, simple questions require simple answers: ”Uh huh. Beta Satan is what people did not know they craved, and YOU’RE the bloody problem, here!”

Elitist, prophetic, defiant, sonic violence in a pop-coating from Denmark’s self-appointed band of genius.

You will answer to: K.R. Hansen, Kned, Johannes Gammelby, Q & Morten Riis

"So what is all this about?", one might ask. Well, it's not so much about satan worshipping as it is really about the music. We, at Crunchy, fell for the unique blend of art pop and extremely heavy noise that this band produces. Also the very uncompromising and provocative tone in their lyrics and their attitude towards fans, the press and basically all living creatures, strikes a chord in us. There definitely is a layer of irony at play, but then there is another layer of real bona fide misanthropic loathing of the human race. So many layers that you need a lawyer to figure it out. Bottom line is that this band rocks and they are not shy about admitting it!

18TH DYE SIGNED TO CRUNCHY FROG
It is with great pleasure and pride that we can announce the newest addition to the crunchy roster. None other than the legendary noise-rockers from 18th Dye. We are absolutely 1000% thrilled to be the label representing this amazing band in the future. We have been fans since they reigned on the indierock scene in the 90es and we pride ourselves to be the first to push them to do a gig at our Vibracrunch festival in 2005. (check pictorial from VC7 here).

Below you'll find some påix from the signing session here at Crunchy Frog HQ.

18th Dye (re)united under the Frog

The band has worked on their 3rd album for a couple of months and have just left the Kondi Frost studio after completing recordings. Now the mix stage is approaching and we expect to be done with the album around X-mas. release early spring.

18th Dye actually leaving the studio

For the sorry persons that have never heard about 18th Dye, check out this video-interview at flasher.com, where you can also hear and see some old videos and some very recent live-recordings. As you can hear in the interview the band broke up in 1995 after having released their 2nd album "Tribute to a Bus", but fortunately thought the better of it and started playing some live shows. Found out that the old magic was still there, and started to write new material.

18th Dye getting ready to pose

The Crunchy Crew witnessed both the show at VibraCrunch7 and the more recent - but already legendary - show at the Danish SPOT Festival. There were no doubt in our minds. We need to sign this band.

And now we have. Feel good story of the year!

No way back!

(sorry for the crummy photoshop work... we only have one big pen actually...)

Heavy Trash & PowerSolo Teams Up In The US

by crunchy.dk 7. November 2007 15:07

This fall the two Crunchy Frog supergroups Heavy Trash and PowerSolo will join forces when they tour the US of A - crazy style! Soulmates as they are, the match couldn't be more perfect. Actually perfection is a piece of shit compared to this combo.

As many well-educated people will already be aware, the lead PowerBoy Kim Kix plays the double-bass for Heavy Trash in their European touring band and also appears on the recent HT album "Going Way Out With..." (and if you haven't heard that, you haven't heard anything yet!). Actually on these tours the whole PowerSolo crew will act as backing band for Giovanni Spencere and Cashew Murder-Ray as well as playing support under their own name. It WILL rock and if you are anywhere nearby the cities they play you are REQUIRED to go support La Causa. Anything else would be un-Americano and the tourists will win!

In september they will cover the eastcoast and later in november they go west. Check out the first dates below.
