WARM-UP TO THE 15-YEAR BASH

by Martin 14. July 2009 11:29

Hi everyone,

As you all surely know (otherwise read the post below), we will celebrate our 15-year anniversary on saturday September 5th at Under Vand with a huge ball, featuring the entire Crunchy roster in live action as well as DJs spinning records all night long.

However, it's also important to note all the other great stuff that will take place.

As you may also know, a lot of esteemed Danish acts are covering their favourite Crunchy tunes that will make up the compilation "Saluting the Crunchy Frog-a-logue" and thus this party is also the release party for this release. At our warm-up session that bgegins at 5pm we'll listen to this compilation and also two forthcoming Crunchy releases. Heavy Trash will release ther 3rd long player "Midnite Soul Serenades" on October 12th and Lars and The Hands of Light will release their debut album later same month. Pre-listen to both these amazing feats in high fidelity at the 15 year warm-up at UNDER VAND.

The first 100 guests will receive the first 100 copies of "Saluting the Crunchy Frog-a-logue" - so there is good reason to get there early and enjoy the 15 kroner beers and 15 kroner hotdogs. Be there at 5pm and jump right in !

New kids on the frog - Lars and the Hands of Light

by Martin 22. June 2009 13:55

Happy news come with the arrival of summer.

It is with great pleasure that we bid welcome to a new artist on our crunchy roster: Lars and the Hands of Light.

However, it's not exactly a new artist, since the band is fronted and led by Lars "I Lommen" Vognstrup who has graced the label over the last 7 years, first as backing singer and rhythm guitarist in Junior Senior's live band, and later on, as part of Wolfkin who released the astonishing album "Brand New Pants" in Autumn 2006).

Now the time has come for Lars to really present himself as the fantastic singer and songwriter, he is. And no other place than within the frames of The Hands of Light is he doing this so promising. We've been listening to (& diggin') the demos the last couple of months and we are excited to release the forthcoming album. The first single "Me Me Me" is out on the radio waves and will likely reach your ears and stay there with its soul-influenced elements. It's as good as that.

You can also listen to the single on www.myspace.com/larsandthehandsoflight

The album is set for release in September 2009. A splendid time is guaranteed for all !!!

Here is Lars with his kid sister Line. Line is also in the band together with Peter Leth (drums) and Thomas Styg (miscellaneous). A good looking hard punching quartet. Look forward to more singles from this outfit during the summer of 09!

Trike - sweeter than a Canadian lollipop

by Martin 1. May 2009 10:17

Yesterday at the CF HQ a quite funny and a bit absurd thing happened.

The door phone rang and when answering, I was greeted with an enthusiastic voice saying: "Hi, we are three Canadians and we have something you can't miss out". Somewhat sceptical, I let them in, and before you could say "synth-rhythmbox-singing-with-accompanying tap dancing" a boy and a girl were doing just that. After their performance we made introductions. Trike, as the duo is called, told us how they had quit their dayjobs back in Vancouver to busk around and book shows and performances. A charming day-by-day living which would have made Jack Kerouac proud. They've been in Denmark for 5 days and had already performed at Stars in Vordingborg, a café in Århus and had a show at Stengade last night, booked as a result of just street performances. You gotta respect that. Trike have my warmest recommendations. Check 'em out for yourself: trikeaband.com and myspace.com/trikeaband

Watch Beta Satan create a new song

by Martin 23. April 2009 12:04

Hi there fellow frog heads,

as you better be very well aware of, the fabulous sonic assault of Beta Satan will roll over this year's SPOT festival.

As a little teaser, ROSA went out to witness Q and Kenneth write and record a song in just one hour.

The result is quite overwhelming, a brutal dance track which they may perform at the SPOT concert..

In describing the recording process, Q makes the following statement, which I think is quite funny: "Det er bare luft, som ikke forstår, hvad der foregår" (It's just air that doesn't understand what's going on).

Watch the footage on the following link and worship!

Crunchy Frog - the band

by Martin 19. March 2009 13:04

Hi folks !

Maybe it's a little bit Mickey Mouse club, but I thought it deserved some attention. As you can see, we're not the only ones using the old Monty Python-sketch, promoting music to the world!

Six cute little kids performing rather convincing versions (their age 10-14 in mind) of classics suck as Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" and The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again". These youngsters surely can play and add freshness and attitude towards these tunes.

Check them out for yourself on the link and holler high what you think.
