Eddie Schweighardt is a cool kid!

by Ramogens 3. January 2012 09:09

Back in the Spring of 2011 we were planning the "Oh, the Irony" video for The Malpractice. A neat little story about a kid who bought a beautiful goldfish only to feed it to his pet piranha. One of our main concerns were how to find that kid. But left to the director, Matthew Thompson, and the producer, Oliver Hartman, it proved no problem. They found the perfect boy: Eddie Schweighardt. Charming and cute but still with a dark edge and most of all lots of talent.

Now Matthew just informed me that Eddie's talent (and not least dark edge) could be seen in the recent season finale of Larry David's hilarious show Curb Your Enthusiasm. And what a performance including both jews, Hitler, a sewing machine and swastikas!

We're talking Emmy material, people!

Godless Wicked Creeps

by Ramogens 2. May 2011 13:03

This really isn't Crunchy Frog news but we're proud of it, so I'll just use a few kilobytes of data storage on this blog to make an announcement. As of April we're the digital distributors of most of Godless Wicked Creeps' releases. These psychobilly gems have been hidden on dusty shelves for too long and finally they have found a digital home. And actually this is slightly Crunchy Frog-related! If you know your PowerSolo you also know that Kim Kix used to bang his hairdo in Godless Wicked Creeps. As did Martin Budde who switched to organ in The Defectors and Thomas Mejer who resides in Johnny Nightmare these days. See for yourself right here:

Three fine young men with impressive hairdos: Kim Kix, Thomas Mejer and Martin Budde, 1994

Go check the crazy sounds of this amazing psychobilly trio (and later quartet) on iTunes, Amazon, WiMP or whatever digital retailer you prefer.

Rock'n'roll and comics = chicken and bacon

by Ramogens 28. February 2011 09:24

About a month ago Heavy Trash did a string of shows in France and Spain. They brought PowerSolo (including the old time drum boy Jens Benz) along for the ride and anyone who've seen that combo know it's cool like a mofo:

As far as we can tell from reviews and picture reports the crowds were once again blown away by the force of Jon Spencer and Matt Verta-Ray. This clip from a festival in Angouleme shows how rock'n'roll and comics actually do go hand in hand like chicken and bacon.

And it seems like the party didn't stop after the show. We'll give a free hug (ok, two free hugs) to anybody who can explain what'sgoing on here:

Lars and the Hands of Light & Paris - une histoire d'amour

by Ramogens 2. November 2010 13:45

The debutalbum from Lars and those people with the extremely glowy hands - "The Looking Glass" came out in France October 25th this year on the well renowned label Platinum Records and the single 'Me Me Me' is spinning on leading national radio stations such as France Inter, Oui FM, Le Mouv, Virgin, Radio Nova and Europe 1.

LatHoL has just returned from a succesful promotion tour in Paris where they did interviews, showcases and four live performances at some of the above mentioned radiostations.

The band brought a video cam and this video is a monument to their triumph in the country of the baguette lovers.

LatHoL is going to celebrate with an European tour (second time this year!) in December where they are visiting Germany, Benelux, Portugal and France where LatHoL are confirmed for the two important festivals Transmusicales and Generiq. This fall also includes an albumrelease in India (holy cow!). See you all out there!
