SPOT 2012

by Simone 14. May 2012 14:00

SPOT 2012 is over. Thanks to all who came out to the concerts with Shiny Darkly, Snake & Jet's Amazing Bullit Band and Thee Attacks. We enjoyed you enjoying them, yes. Below is some kind words about the release parties Friday and our official Crunchy Club SPOT showcase Saturday.

This is how we release-party. Snake & Jet & Laura at HQ.

British CLASH MUSIC joined us at the release party and they liked what they saw:

Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band boast groin-friendly psychedelic grooves and a mesmerising dynamic between the gawky frontman and supercool Agyness Dean-alike on bass. They’ve got the full package: style, songs, sublime riffs - do catch them next time they darken your neck of the woods.”

"
Thor, Thomas and Laura delivered a set that oozed of energy, groovy basslicks, and a lovely playfull guitar, all delivered with a confident smile."
Junk De Luxe

The combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocal is not easily made exciting – but Snake and Jet’s Amazing Bullit Band manages it to surprisingly great extent.”

Shiny Darkly had their sort-of-first-concert-outside-CPH-debut at SPOT. With no less than four concerts during the weekend, it is only fair to say that they made a depressingly beautiful first appearance in Aarhus. Gaffa, Soundvenue, Clash Music and Drowned in Sound agree:

Every note and every beat sounded as if it was a matter of life and death”

(5/6) GAFFA

The ability to repress the anger and the smouldering gloominess without ever letting it explode is the core in Shiny Darklys expression

(4/6) SOUNDVENUE

Shiny Darkly are one of the acts we’d been tipped about in advance, a youthful outfit from Copenhagen who play punky shoegaze, led by a chap who looks like Alex Kapranos’ younger brother – they’re wonderfully, chunkily energetic.
CLASH MUSIC

"Singer Kristoffer Bech holds court in the centre of the stage, asking repeatedly "Who's suicidal?" before launching into the band's Bunnymen infused anthem 'He's Suicidal'. One song even sounds like The Horrors covering 'Anarchy In The UK' (no, we aren't kidding). Sure, it may have been done before but judging by the trio's cold demeanour, Shiny Darkly sincerely mean it, man."

Once again Thee Attacks tore SPOT apart. Not that we expected anything less. If you missed the show, you have to read this review (if you were there, you should still read it, of course). It's good. And funny. And every word is very true. Thee Attacks is the combination between a modern-day-Danish-Elvis and an old-school porn star with a unruly moustache. Yes.

"intriguing and down right impressive as they delivered a flawless, confident performance that radiated maturity and experience."

It looked somewhat like this. Now you go wondering how it felt the day after...

Hopefully everyone has just as good a time as we had. But of course you had - with SPOT, Aarhus and all this crunchiness, who could ask for more? With all this said: thanks again for a great festival, see you next year!

by Kristoffer 13. April 2012 12:12

In between rocking out at SxSW and giving acoustic sessions to toddlers Thee Quite Awesome Attacks took time out to visit KAOS Radio Austin.

Even though Thee Attacks are bad ass rock stars, Terry and Jimmy Attack did find the time, while in Austin for SxSW, to reassure a couple of youngsters that ’It’s Alright’

Thee Attack's foray into art cinema - oh, and they rock the hell out of SxSW!

by Kristoffer 19. March 2012 14:00

Danish newspaper Politiken equipped Crunchy Frog's very own Thee Attacks with a video camera to document their crunchiness at this year's South by Southwest. Check out their vid's below.

In their first clip they try MTV Cribs' concept on for size while presenting their humble lodging place. Also, they dabble with art cinema...come on guys, what's up with the furball?

A bit of drunken disorder? Maybe, but the guys sure seem to be having a blast even though the head honcho Yebo oversees a dayparty appearance.

On to Canada!
