Snake and Jet's Amazing Bullit Band
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Edgy and groovy rock duo from Copenhagen, Denmark firing it up with
hammond organ, drums, screeching guitars and vintage synths. Snake and
Jet concoct a most funky cocktail with elements from blues, rock, punk
and even synth-pop in their unique retro-modern style. Lyrically the
duo used to live by a less is more approach, but their latest release
will show that they are not afraid to put words where guitars used to
roam. It will please your indie ears as well as make your feet dance.

Shiny Darkly
Shiny Darkly are one of those rare once in a long while that is
well worth the wait. The noise rock trio has an unbelievably established
sound considering their average age of only 21! The boys draw their
inspiration from 20thgreats such as Joy Division, Jesus & Mary Chain and 13th Floor Elevators. Shiny Darkly is a high voltage, narcotic, drone-like universe you'll never want to leave.

The Tremolo Beer Gut
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
They
are here to put the URF! back in surf! They love tremolo, they love
beer and they've got guts! The Tremolo Beer Gut plays old school surf
& western, a genre they've thought up themselves, which draws
inspirations from the ultra cool rough twangy guitar sound of 50'es and
60'es surf as well as the great film music of Mancini, Barry and
Moricone. The songs are short and instrumental (apart from occasional
shouting and carrying on). TBG has made it their style to use the same
cover-photo for all their releases, they just change the color and
design a little bit. As they say: "You can't improve on perfection - and
by the way: when you're drunk, it's easier to remember the color of the
sleeve than the name of the record!"

Thee Attacks
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
”Thee
Attacks are a mod-looking four-piece from Aalborg in north Denmark.
Soulful vocals complement a '65-era Townshend guitarist, who whacks out
Have Love, Will Travel-style riff after riff. So good - and with no
covers - they'll easily move beyond the garage and could crossover to
become a successor to The Hives. Primitivist über-producer Liam Watson
is here and smiling along.” - Kieron Tyler, MOJO Magazine
Do we need to say more?

Apparat Organ Quartet
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Hailing
from Reykjavik, Iceland, Apparat Organ Quartet is, despite the name, a 5
piece band: 4 keyboardists and 1 drummer. They sometimes describe their
music as „Machine Rock and Roll", and indeed the band’s sound veers
between danceable floor-fillers and headbanging
anthems, all served with a mixture of Kraftwerk-inspired
electronics fused with Daft Punk-like Robot voices and hard-rock
drumbeats, with beautifully
melancholic melodies soaring over the whole mix. Effortlessly
switching between the dancefloor and the mosh-pit, AOQ at times sounds
like a more danceable Motorhead - if they had been born in Dusseldorf,
and plugged Moogs into their Marshall amps instead of guitars. The band
is not afraid of echoing the epic grandeur of 70’s and 80’s stadium
rock, but this is always tempered by the band’s metronomic Krautrock
sensibilities.

The Malpractice
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Myspace]
Behind
the name "The Malpractice" is singer and componist Johannes Gammelby,
who might be a known name in certain indie-circles. Part guitarist and
part screamer in the infernal/demonic pop band Beta Satan, and also the
Maestro behind the Morningside Records band, I Am Bones. The Malpractice
is the solo project of this multi talented man and Crunchy Frog
welcomes him to the flock.

Powersolo
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
What
do you think of when you hear the name "PowerSolo"? 'Round Denmark way,
the moniker apparently conjures the trash-rock psychobilly legacy of
Hasil Adkins, the Cramps, and Southern Culture on the Skids. Powersolo
may be a power trio, but in this case, the prog-metal acrobatics of rush
are replaced with something they call "donkey punk." Two tremolo-loving
chicken-scratch, rail-thin guitarists Kim Kix and Atomic Child. And
drummer J.C. Benz playing his trade on just a snare, bass drum, and
floor tom. It would've been good enough had PowerSolo hailed from the
Land of NASCAR. But the fact that this exercise in B-movie punk-a-billy
is coming from Aarhus, Denmark, adds plenty of delicious cognitive
dissonance. "The next song goes out to Grandma. It's called "Stupid
Little Bitch!""

Lars and The Hands of Light
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Myspace]
Lars
and The Hands of Light is the sweetest and coolest band in the crunchy
roster. Edgy pop music is the key word, and Lars and The Hands of Light
delivers, like that's all they ever done. And actually that is was front
singer Lars has been doing his whole life. He was guitarist in the
success band Junior Senior, and he was also a part of the great rockband
and duo Wolfkin. Lars and The Hands of Light are here to stay, and god
damn it, they will!

Heavy Trash
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
JON
SPENCER and MATT VERTA-RAY are HEAVY TRASH. There is a secret place
where even the best-intentioned rockabilly explorations are scarred by
dirty guitars, bad dreams, and lust gone wrong...Where murder ballads
rub up against filthy R&B and frantic rock'n'roll...Where country
ruminations drip with echo and sadness... This is where Spencer and
Verta-Ray fermented their very souls and gave birth to HEAVY TRASH, the
perfect soundtrack for boozy all-night throw downs, pettin' parties and
psychedelic fright shows.

Beta Satan
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Beta
Satan are not out to please. They don't care about you. They don't care
about your mother, your brother, your girlfriend or your dog. Or what
you think about their music. Mixing avant-garde, melody and outbursts of
heavy synths and guitars this is unique with a vengeance. And they have
come to rule your world. So bow down and worship. Elitist, prophetic,
defiant, sonic violence in a pop-coating from Denmark’s self-appointed
band of genius.

Oliver North Boy Choir
[Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Beautiful
spheric vocal in a minimalistic partly acoustic, partly electronic
musical universe. Oliver North Boy Choir is the first band at Crunchy
Frog who solely releases their music digitally. ONBC thus partakes in
the the growing tendency in the music business away from the restraining
album context. ONBC is free to release singles and b-sides every few
months and are always close at hand at any download platform.

Sterling
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Innovative
pop music sprinkled with guitars and synth sounds of yesteryear.
Sterling is the first Crunchy Frog band with strictly Danish lyrics. The
3 guys are not only handsome and well-mannered but also gifted with a
playful and poetic stance towards both their native language and the
backlogs of rock - in the field between Beach Boys, Pixies and Danish
band Kliché. Even if you don't understand a word of Danish, Sterlings
great melodies and sometimes experimental tunes will fill you with utter
joy and a thirst for the works of Kierkegaard, Andersen and
Oehlenschlæger.

Kim And The Cinders
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Myspace]
Kim
Kix - the PowerSolo front man - shows new sides of his many talents in
this band together with his brother by birth, Bo, and their brother in
spirit, Horatio. Their debut album was recorded in the deep dark Swedish
woods with no running water or electricity. Just a mobile studio in a
Volvo and a gasoline power generator. And like the woods; the songs,
lyrics and emotions run deep on this record. A world of beauty, sorrow,
love and pain.

First Floor Power
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Myspace]
Crunchy
Frog is proud to announce another new band under the crunchy rooster:
the Swedish band First Floor Power. First Floor Power is releasing their
third album "Don't Back Down!" on May 5th 2008. It has been quite a
while since the last album by FFP, but now they are finally back with
their truly exceptional and personal pop music. FFP is Sara Wilson
(Bass, guitars and lead vocals), Karl Jonas Winqvist (keyboards and lead
vocals) and Per Lager (Drums). Sara’s sister, Jenny Wilson has left the
band, but she couldn't resist making a guest appearance on this new
album. Look forward to FFP’s energetic and melodic pop music, which – in
their own words – aim for the hearts, not the charts!

18th DYE
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
This
addition to the crunchy roster is none other than the legendary
noise-rockers from 18th Dye. We have been fans since they reigned on the
indie rock scene in the 90es. The band broke up in 1995 after having
released their 2nd album "Tribute to a Bus", but fortunately thought the
better of it and started playing some live shows. Found out that the
old magic was still there, and started to write new material. 2008 saw
the release of "Amorine Queen". Here the band continues to elaborate
their oeuvre and thrill both the die hard fans as well as new audiences.

Junior Senior
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
If
you took The B-52s, Beck Hansen, Run DMC, The Cramps, Michael Jackson,
DJ Shadow and Rolling Stones and cramped them into two human beings -
one big one and one small - you would probably end up with the dynamic
duo: Junior Senior –the active word being 'dynamic'. Junior Senior
aren't exactly characterized by being a homogenous mass. It is the very
interaction between Junior and Senior which is the dynamo (seems we’re
wearing this metaphor thin) in the band. Junior is a little
whipper-snapper. Senior is a colossus of a man. Junior is straight.
Senior is gay. Junior and Senior are very different, but together they
are Junior Senior - a team through thick and thin.

epo-555
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Armed
with flaming beats and bee swarms, giraffes and lethal lyrics the
Desert Fox epo-555 sets the scene for the trench war between good and
evil. In this dry and dusty univers the only real outlaw is the ruthless
epo-555 electronica-based noise rock in which polemic poetry is mixed
with poetic politics, popular music programming, and spiced up with
careless curiosity, good faces and foul play until the souls are on fire
and the Fox is howling at the moon.

Wolfkin
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Wolfkin
is a non-ordinary rock-outfit that take you for a trip through their
own fantasia, where mirages of orchestras, string-sections and
otherworldly sceneries are invoked amidst the duo's hall-of-mirrors
band. Treacherous tales and adult themed adventures, are sung with great
pathos and cheeky self-relativity by two male singers whose vocals
weave together in vibrating contrast between cold-hearted cynicism &
devotional romanticism.

Tothe International
[Tourdates] [Gallery]
To
quote Alexei Sayle: "They are mad, but they've got a good watch". This
is by all means the most weird and entertaining band not only of Crunchy
Frog but the entire European rock scene. The inspirations are many and
varied. Names such as Butthole Surfers, Beck, The Residents and Tom
Waits says more about the approach than about how the music sounds. The
band mix excellent pop songs with all possible genres and strange
instruments (toys, bullhorn, theremin, jingle bells and accordion).

The Mopeds
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
The
Mopeds happen to be the most beautiful band in the world - and what's
even more beautiful: they are the first Swedish band signed to Crunchy
Frog. Their world class poptunes are catchy and crooked and just makes
you want to dance and have a ball. Intelligent pop with humour and
style. The boys in the band run one of the original famous Tambourine
Studios in Malmö, Sweden: Gula Studion and have also produced records
with many great artists such as Dr. Kosmos, Etienne Charry and Ray
Wonder.

The Raveonettes
[Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
Ever
since The Raveonettes released their debut album, they have been one of
the most hyped and hailed bands in the world of rock ´n´ roll, becoming
the first danish rock act ever to break internationally. The music is
melodic, orginal noiserock taking the best from the last 45 years of the
glorious pop and rockscene mixing it all in their very own way and
style. The lyrics circles around the darker side of city nightlife,
strip joints, dive bars, leather dress, kinky sex, lost love and the
beat. Rave on to the wicked, wild & whippy sound of The Raveonettes!

Learning from Las Vegas
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite]
Though
they have never actually been in Las Vegas, the band have learned a
great deal from Robert Venturi's book on postmodern architecture, from
which they took their name. Though the band has got a more traditional
than experimental approach to song writing they are far from mainstream.
The sound of the band has over the years moved from classic indierock,
over moody melancholy to straight up rock'n'roll, but always with a
twist.
The latest album - Richard and Liz - was produced by labelmate
Thomas Troelsen from Superheroes and brings the band to new levels of
greatness!

Superheroes
[Tourdates] [Gallery] [Bandsite][Myspace]
The
sweetest designer drug from the Crunchy Lab is called 'Superheroes'. It
is young, fresh, catchy and most addictive. Since the band released
their debut album 'Dancing Casanova' in 1998 they've made a great
impression on musicfans and critics. They have developed their own
special synth-based indie pop in great style and expanded their steady
growing fanbase to cover the whole world. Live Superheroes are famous
for their energetic performances that always makes the crowd go nuts.

THAU
[Tourdates] [Gallery]
Although
warned several times by the Crunchy Frog chief psychologist, THAU has
gone ahead and released 3 albums and a mini-cd. All their records have
met with great reviews - both national and international - but they are
unfortunately still a well kept secret outside of their hometown of
Copenhagen. Their greatest influences are American bands but they also
have a distinctly Scandinavian sound to them. This is not easy listening
music, but if you indulge in the universe of THAU the reward is so much
greater!
