No fillers, all killers!
Well,
it´s been some damn good and glorious days for our international
rrrrock star darlings - The Raveonettes. Aug 25th the sexy and whippy
duo released their much awaited second album Chain gang of Love. The
album has been one overly hyped album this year and the expectations
have been unbelievably high. Actually soooo high that one could almost
only fail... But did they? The answer is pure and simple: NO!!
Since the album has been out in the shops the critics
have been clapping in their nasty hands and dropping superlatives all
over this Great album. Simply The Raveonettes and Chain Gang of Lfove
is praised and hailed as one of the best things to come out of Denmark
since porn and Carlsberg (or was it remoulade?).Here´s some of the highlights of what the press wrote:
NME
(music mag): “It's a brilliantly controlled explosion of feedback and
melody - the perfect distillation of rock's most vital components. Time
to go join the real leaders of the pack.” (8 out of 10). Bang Magazine
writes: "Chain Gang of Love is the coolest 'Best Of The 60's'
compilation you've never heard." The cool gay mag Attitude rates it
with a big 5, and writes: "Drop-dead cool leather clad genius" and
Britain's biggest music mag Q gives it 4 out of 6 stars.
The Danish press are in general just as excited as the international press:
Album of the month in one of Denmark’s biggest men’s magazines, M, and with a top rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
Politiken (newspaper): “…Raveonettes are making rockmucic cool, sexy and trendy again…” 5 out of 6 hearts.
Jyllandsposten (newspaper): “…this album deserves a prominent place in danish rockhistory.” 5 out of 6 stars.
B.T. (newspaper): “…you just smile euphorically and think; yeah, baby!!” 5 out of 6 stars.
Denmark's leading music magazine, Gaffa: “…a piece of magic and original rock culture…” (4 out of 6 stars)
Chili (youth magazine): “…it´s just as spell-binding as it´s cool…” 4 ouf of 6 chili´s.
But
the Danish triumph doesn’t stop here. Also the radio stations have been
giving a warm welcome to the album. The wicked single, That Great Love
Sound has been played repeatedly and was single of the week on P3 (the
Danish national radio music channel) - and the single is steadily
climbing up the charts on the mainstream hitlist. To top all this, the
spectacular video to That Great Love Sound is enjoying quite a bunch of
spins on MTV!
Not too shabby – and let’s end the tale with Rolling
Stone editor, David Fricke's splendid description of the new album: “No
fillers, all killers!” Go join the Chain Gang, people – you won’t
regret it!
